Säkert och circulärt – NOAH handles fly ash at the Nordic level
NOAH develops the solutions of the future and contributes to the environmental and climate goals. Fly ash from Swedish power plants is handled in the most environmentally friendly way in our operations. We take the toxic substances out of the cycle through safe and circular processes. The end product is used to restore the natural environment. Thanks to cooperation and resource flows at the Nordic level, we get the greatest effect.
Nordic, safe and circular process
NOAH's core business is handling residual fractions with heavy metals from industry and power plants, classified hazardous waste. We take toxic substances out of the cycle. Fly ash from Swedish power plants is alkaline and classified as hazardous waste. Somewhat simplified, we have a process that balances it with acidic industrial waste from Norway. The result is gypsum, which today is used to restore important natural values in a former limestone quarry on the island of Langöya.
NOAH works to extract raw materials from waste fractions for use as input factors in new products. Of NOAH's employees, 10% work full-time to develop the technical solutions of the future: salt recovery, fly ash as an input material in concrete and cement, production of plasterboard from industrial acid, CO2 recovery from flue gas (CCU) and production of hydrogen gas.
We are sure that we will succeed with this technique, but would like to point out that the recycling of material with heavy metals requires both legal changes and long-term framework conditions. If these are in place, the future on Langöya is circular!
Together, we run the Nordic pioneering work in waste issues. Cogeneration becomes more sustainable when the residual products are well taken care of.

NOAH strives to be the best partner for municipalities and regions. Our model for waste management helps the municipality achieve its environmental and climate goals. Sinfra gives us and our process 4,98 out of a possible five. Despite the top result, we continue to develop our technique and process. Innovation and development makes a difference for climate and environment.
It is possible to set higher demands on circularity and environmental impact in agreements and procurements. The best possible environmental technology and process is the least that citizens can expect.
All-electric sea transport for NOAH's customers
NOAH is now starting the transition to the transport of fly ash with all-electric autonomous sea drones. Initially, 6 cars per year are moved from road to all-electric sea transport directly from Moss to Langöya. The fly ash and waste are treated here and contribute to the rehabilitation of Langöya into an open-air gem in the Oslofjord.
The Sjödrönars are the first of their kind in the world. The solution is the result of close and good cooperation with ASKO Maritime and Sörum Transport.
In the summer of 2024, our Swedish customers will be welcomed to Langöya to experience the electric ships and take part in the restructuring of processes and transport.
