Moves the ash transport to electric ships
ASKO Maritime's electric sea drones now operate on a daily basis Langøya. This means fewer heavy cars on the roads, better traffic safety and a significantly reduced footprint from ash handling in Norway.
On Thursday evening, the Municipal Council in Holmestrand was invited to witness one of the early drone attacks Langøya. The ocean liner "Therese" arrived and was unloaded from trailers, before the politicians were given a tour on board the electric and high-tech vessel.
"It means a lot to us that traffic is reduced and that we get much of the heavy transport away from the road and onto such sea drones. The fact that we have a business community with important players who come together and achieve this here in Holmestrand in little Vestfold is really absolutely fantastic, said deputy mayor Jan Fredrik Vogt to NRK Vestfold, which broadcast live from the landing.
Vogt added that the noise in the center will be felt when more ships come over on quiet ships.
Sjødrona has room for 14 more truck trailers Langøya. The company has so far taken trailers equivalent to 1000 trucks annually. When the solution is fully operational sometime in the autumn, the sea drone will replace 6000 annual trucks on the roads in Vestfold.
"The maritime drone solution significantly reduces our footprint. It reduces the emissions from fly ash transport, and not least, it reduces NOAH's heavy transport through the narrow town centers of Holmestrand and Horten with less noise and dust and better traffic safety," says CEO of NOAH Solutions Tove Stuhr Sjøblom.
